Welcome folks to John and Becky's Party Guide.

If you haven't a clue whats going from the invitations here is a quick explaination:

John and Becky are planning to have a party on Saturday 27th October in Achill in John seniors house. THE THEME IS FANCY DRESS - TOYS AND CARTOON CHARACTERS - so dont be left in the corner wearing clothes from the human world. The last party was on the same weekend at the same venue back in 2005. There were over 90 revellers in attendance boogying to 80's music till the wee hours. This year will be even better with the added bonus of a prize wall and a prospective lime-light stage for all you exhibitionists out there. (we are open to any other suggestions that you may have.) The usual professional sound and light equipment will be present also.

THE PEOPLE:

John Robinson (otherwise known as John-John, Tiger, The Stig, or idiot depending where you met him) will be your host for the evening, your main party liason and part time DJ on the night.

The lovely Becky and the resident genius John Daly will be providing much needed support for the event.

Guests will consist of varied friends and family from all over and hopefully, you. If you got an invite feel free to bring girlfrends/boyfriends, spouses or dates. If you want to bring freinds thats ok too, just let us know numbers etc.

THE PLACE:

Ard na Speire, Slieve Mor, Achill Island, Co. Mayo, Ireland

The above address is where John Senior lives. Many thanks to him for letting us do our thing for the weekend. Its a beautiful place off the west coast of Ireland and all guests should look around the island if they can.

THE PARTY NIGHT:

Guests should aim to arrive at the house at around 8pm. Please be advised to park at the END of the driveway and WALK up the hill. (Its only 300 meters and it'll do you good). Trust me there will be no parking at the top. Some food nibbles and drinks will be provided but it would be best to eat before and to bring your own Drinks - BYOB. Music will be a bit of everything but the aim is to get everyone dancing all night. (Like last time) mingle and have a generally silly time. Music will be played by the two Johns

SAFETY & SECURITY & SUPPLIES:

Achill is one of the safest places in the whole country, most houses are open, most (locals) cars will have keys in them at all times, but dont attempt to drink drive! If you have any further concerns please let me know. Just try not to fall into bog-holes, ditches, wells or ride on cows, horses, tractors or sheep. The local farmers will not find this amusing. On bank-holiday weekends cash machines frequently empty. There are only 2 on the island. One is in the shop in the village of Keel (2km from party venue) but they open and close when they feel like it so dont depend on normal opening hours. The ONLY other ATM is in Achill sound which is the village by the bridge onto the island( 13km from party venue). Shops, pubs and petrol stations will generally NOT take laser cards or credit cards. Basically take enough cash with you and dont get caught out like a big eejit. The best last place to get money/food/drink is in the town of Castlebar, Co.Mayo.(60km from party venue) .There is a large Tesco store here open 24 hours where you will be able to get anything you need. It is on the drive down and it is the town to get off if you are coming by train (It is the last stop by the way!).
